Evaluators came to campus yesterday and Wednesday to evaluate Ajo High School’s academic program. The evaluators found that our school meets national standards, and they recommended full accreditation. Ajo was one of the first high schools in the state to earn accreditation--in 1927--and we are pleased to maintain that distinction. Keeping full accreditation means that colleges and the military will continue to honor our high school diplomas, and it allows Ajo to continue to compete athletically and academically with other schools in the Arizona Interscholastic Association. Thanks to all of our teachers, students and parents for representing Ajo High School so effectively.

On Monday, February 6th, there will be an evening academic awards night for grades 7-12. Students will receive recognition for academic performance, for improvement, for good attendance, and for clean discipline records. Teachers will give classroom awards, and the administration will give schoolwide awards. The event will take place at 6:00 p.m. in Dicus Auditorium. We are looking for some entertainment for the academic awards night. See Mr. McGoldrick if you are interested in performing, or if you have other suggestions for the program.

Future Wildcats!!! Marcos Enriquez of the University of Arizona will be on campus today Friday. If you have more questions he will be available during lunch in the Cafeteria.

Seniors, talk to Arely Nunez regarding information about baby pictures and videos you wish to show in the slideshow.

Spring Picture day is coming up next Tuesday February 7, 2012. Packets are available at the school office.

Baseball practice will start Monday at 4:00 at the baseball field and will end at 5:00. Please bring gloves, spikes and appropriate clothing.

Any high school student interested in joining this year’s Ajo Red Raider Golf Team should sign up with either Miss Tiell or Mr. Harvey. This is a co-ed team, with matches and tournaments played on some very nice courses around the state. Golf clubs are provided if you do not have your own. You also need to complete the required concussion class. Please see Mr. English if you need information on getting those requirements met. Practices will be after school, and most likely start next Monday Feb. 6th.

For those students interested in Track, the sign up sheet is at the School Office. Practice begins next Monday February 6th at 3:30 p.m.

All golf, track, softball and baseball players; please remember that you need to have a physical on file with the office before starting practice. Practice begins next Monday. February 6th.

Away basketball games today February 3, 2012 against Tohono O’Odham. Games are at 5:30 and 7:00.
