Dr. Robert F. Dooley
Dr. Robert F. Dooley became the Superintendent of the Ajo Unified School District on July 1, 2002. Dr. Dooley's undergraduate and master's degrees are in Secondary Education with a major in History and a minor in Business Education. He received his doctorate degree from Arizona State University in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in School Finance.
Professionally, Dr. Robert F. Dooley is certified by the State of Arizona to be an elementary teacher, a secondary teacher of History and Business, a K-12 Principal, and a K-12 Superintendent, a position Dr. Dooley currently holds at Ajo Unified School District.
Prior to serving as the Superintendent for the Ajo Unified School District, Dr. Robert F. Dooley taught for six years, was an Assistant Principal for four years, a Principal for twenty years, and was the Business Manager for Ajo Unified School District for two years.
Dr. Robert F. Dooley is married with three children. His wife, Joyce, is a Reading Specialist at San Simon Elementary School on the Tohono O'odham Reservation. Dr. Dooley's daughter Sherry is a teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Dooley's daughter Shannon is a therapist in Flagstaff, Arizona. Dr. Dooley's son Spencer is an actor living in Tucson.
Being Superintendent of Ajo Unified School District leaves little time for Dr. Dooley to enjoy his hobbies. When time permits, Dr. Dooley relaxes by riding his Arabian mare or "fiddling" with one of several classic vehicles, which Dr. Dooley consistently refers to as "works in progress". Dr. Dooley may most often be found at the offices of Ajo Unified School District.
To keep the parents, teachers, and community apprised to events around the community and the state that affect Ajo Schools and education in general, Dr. Dooley writes a monthly column for the Ajo Copper News.
