Old Bear Paintings
Grade 2

After reading the book, Old Bear by Kevin Henkes, the students learned how to draw a bear using geometric shapes. They drew their own old bear with oil pastel and painted it with brown paint. While thier paintings dried, the students learned how to paint leaves and print them onto black paper. The leaves were specially shipped in from New York state. The students added some white dots for snow with paint. After their bears were dry, they were cut out and glued onto their fall/wintery scenes.
