Inspired by the Pop Art movement in America during the 1960's the students learned about the artist Roy Lichtenstein. Lichtenstein was inspired by comic books and advertising and was one of the first artist to also include text in his paintings. The students chose a 1 inch square from the newspaper comics to enlarge up to a 7 inch square. Using neon paints, they painted their comic drawings to make them "pop".
