Open Positions

Position: 2018-2019 Special Education Teacher
Application Type: Certified Application Packet

Job Description: Special education teachers teach elementary special education students and share primary responsibility for implementing the district's required curriculum. They will also prepare and teach weekly lesson plans based on district guidelines and IEP requirements; maintain up-to-date grade books and records; attend IEP meetings; follow all state, district, and IEP testing guidelines; and prepare and disseminate report cards.

Special Education Teacher Requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related
  • Must possess or be immediately eligible for an Arizona Department of Education teaching certificate in special education

Position: Substitute Teachers [continuous opening]

Job Description: Substitute teachers educate students by faithfully executing the lesson plans that the regular classroom teacher prepares. Candidates must 

Candidates with a high school diploma, GED, or associate degree can obtain an emergency substitute certificate, renewable annually. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree can qualify for a permanent substitute certificate. 

Compensation: Substitutes earn $68.00 per day with an emergency substitute certificate and $73.00 per day with a permanent substitute certificate. 

Position: Paraprofessional Teaching Assistant [continuous opening]

Job Description & Qualifications: Paraprofessional teaching assistants provide academic and behavioral support for students under the supervision of certified classroom teachers. Candidates must: 

  • Fill out a classified application, and submit it to our district office
  • Pass a criminal background check

Paraprofessional Certification Requires:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • At least 60 college credit hours or successful passage of an online paraprofessional examination

The typical paraprofessional contract averages 26 hours per five-day week.
