Position: Pre-K–12 Grade Principal

Job Description & Qualifications: Provides leadership, administrative, and supervisory skills for the promotion of all students’ educational development, including community and parent involvement. Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Establishes and maintains, within the limitations of financial resources available, a safe and effective learning climate in the school, ensuring effective teaching and learning based on school-wide strategic planning.
- Sets high, yet realistic, school goals based on district goals and school needs. Provides systematic staff development and implements action plan for results.
- Leads and facilitates comprehensive needs assessment development/implementation of school improvement plan.
- Monitors the instructional program through staff and program evaluation to enhance student achievement and development.
- Implements a school-wide program of student management utilizing consistent rules, positive reinforcement, and appropriate logical consequences.
- Evaluates, according to law and board policy, and counsels all staff regarding their individual and group performances. Provides staff growth assistance as needed.
- Recommends discharge of staff members whose work is unsatisfactory.
- Maintains awareness of current laws, regulations, and policies affecting public school educational administration, including special requirements for handicapped, gifted, and other special programs.
- Plans and organizes activities to bring parents and other community members into the school.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and other necessary documents as required.
- Participates in community, school, and district meetings as appropriate or assigned.
- Prepares and submits local school budget requests. Monitors local school expenditures.
- Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all district policies and rules and administrative directives.
- Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Works with district departments, including maintenance and transportation departments, to coordinate multiple school activities to assure safe, well-maintained facilities which operate effectively and efficiently.
- Maintains supervision of office clerical staff, school health office, counselor, teaching staff, instructional staff, paraprofessionals, athletic director, & student activity sponsors.
- Involve and lead staff in interpreting test data to improve instruction and achievement and facilitate staff professional development needs.
- Continues to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
- Performs all other duties as may be assigned.
- Informs Superintendent of activities and problems as appropriate.
Education and/or Experience:
- At least three years of successful K–8 teaching or administrative experience
- Master’s degree in education
- Arizona Principal Certification required
Position: Business Manager

Position: Reading Intervention Teacher

Job Description & Qualifications: To create a strong instructional program in grades PreK-3, each elementary grade teacher must be highly qualified to teach in the area in which they are employed. Teachers will receive a minimum of two annual formal evaluations from a qualified evaluator. Specific job and employment responsibilities are enumerated in the employment contract and will not be repeated in the job description. Position: Maintenance/Custodian Position

Job Description & Qualifications: Maintenance staff work eight hours from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (full time) during the day to keep the Ajo Unified School District campus clean and presentable. Custodians need to work eight hours from 3:00 p.m. to midnight (full time) after school to help clean campus. Applicants qualifications will determine placement as either maintenance or custodian. Summer hours for all maintenance/custodian staff is 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Candidates must:

Position: Paraprofessional Teaching Assistant [continuous opening]

Job Description & Qualifications: Paraprofessional teaching assistants provide academic and behavioral support for students under the supervision of certified classroom teachers.

Paraprofessional Certification Requires:

Position: Part-Time/Auxiliary Bus Driver

Job Description & Qualifications: The Ajo Unified School District is looking for individuals with a CDL who is willing to obtain a student endorsement from the Arizona MVD and Arizona Department of Safety. The successful applicant will be required to take yearly mandatory drug and alcohol screening as well as random screenings through out the year.
Candidates must:
- Fill out a classified application, and submit it to our district office.
- Pass an extensive IVP fingerprint background check to supervise students.
- Have or be able to obtain a commercial drivers license and a bus driver number.
Job Description: Substitute teachers educate students by faithfully executing the lesson plans that the regular classroom teacher prepares.
Candidates must:
- Fill out a certified application, and submit it to our district office.
- Obtain a Department of Public Safety fingerprint card.
- Obtain substitute teacher certification from the Arizona Department of Education.
Candidates with a high school diploma, GED, or associate degree can obtain an emergency substitute certificate, renewable annually. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree can qualify for a permanent substitute certificate.
Compensation: Substitutes earn $100.00 per day (4+ hours).
