Thank You

AUSD Red Raider Staff,

First and foremost, thank you to every single one of you for your dedication, desire, and determination in making our campus the best possible learning environment for our students and families.

A big recognition to all of our certified and classified staff that welcomed all of our families the week of parent/teacher conferences. The K-6 teachers were holding conferences all week and the middle and high school teachers welcomed our students and families on Thursday, March 14 from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the gym. We also want to thank our food services staff for the dinner that was provided for AUSD staff during these conferences on March 14.

Our Emergency Operations Plan and Revised Certified Salary Schedule for 2024–2025 were recently approved by our Governing Board on March 6. A big thank you to our governing board members!

We want to recognize our Professional Learning Community (PLC) team leaders for their planning and preparation with the leadership team during February for the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) and for the planning and preparation during March for the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) and high school ACT test. This extra preparation for all our students and staff will make a positive difference with our academic achievement.

Our students, families, and the entire Ajo community are providing great feedback to the transformations that are taking place here at Ajo Schools, including the constant focus on our School Safety Procedures. We had some valuable feedback during our Parent Coffee on March 14 which was held in the board room. Let’s continue to form these community partnerships that can only help our district move forward.

Our student of the month celebrations at the governing board meetings continue to recognize the partnership between our students, families, and staff. Let’s continue this with even more enthusiasm as we move towards the April and May celebrations for fifth to eighth grades and for the high school.

The softball and baseball teams are playing some great games here at the softball and baseball fields. The fields are looking great, the baseball team is showing improvement, and our Ajo Lady Raiders softball team is undefeated with a record of 4-0 after defeating our rival Gila Bend 21-8. We want to recognize our facilities teams for their collaboration in making our fields the best they have looked in many years. Even the visiting umpires that officiate the softball and baseball games have told our staff that our fields look in great condition!

FCI Constructors, Inc., has also started their work on providing AUSD with a new fire alarm and intercom system. There are new fire alarm panels in the school office, Dicus Auditorium, the technology building, auto shop, and the primary building is almost complete. This new system should be complete by May of this year.

AUSD is a great place to be right now. Let’s finish strong and continue year two of this incredible journey together–HPT Heart, Pride, and Transformation!
